Men of Depth

Fall 2024

Men of Depth is a group for men intent upon leaving the world better than we found it.

In a container of trust and challenge, we help each other align with our authenticity, purpose, and service.

Logistics

Stefan (4-time MoDster)

“MoD has benefitted me by providing a closed venue to sift through challenging situations or release some pressure on stressful topics you don’t want to bring home. It also gives you the chance to support other men who may be navigating turbulent waters and need support. Giving and receiving input, feedback or just a sympathetic set of ears is why I keep coming back for more sessions.”

Facilitators

  • Davis Cowles

Davis is a Life, Breath & Mvmt Coach with a passion for men’s work, and a deep background in wilderness-based leadership education.

He co-founded Moon & Back in 2020, and fully took the reins in 2022. He’s fascinated by the confluence of breath and movement, especially deep in the mountains.

  • Erik Wardell

Erik is a father, mindfulness instructor, men's work facilitator, and mental health educator. He also has a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling.

He is unceasingly curious about the human experience and has dedicated his life to helping people make the most of this little miracle we call life.

Strength Training

Strength training meaningfully parallels the work we do in the group.

As a MoD participant, you are encouraged to workout at Ripple Effect at a discounted rate of $20/class. This element is completely optional, and highly encouraged.

FAQs

So, what will we actually be doing?

Sessions structure will vary based upon what is most alive for each of us. Each session will very likely include some combination of prompted discussion, coaching, and embodied practice.

What if I can’t make all sessions?

A few absences is ok, but we want men willing and able to prioritize this group. We ask that you only commit to this group if you can make a minimum of 4/6 sessions.

So, what am I actually paying for?

What's the cost of not living up to your potential in this life? When you enroll in MoD, you are investing in an intentionally crafted process of self-discovery that will help you step into your life, community, and relationships in a deeper and more meaningful way.

*If you show up to the minimum number of sessions and participate thoroughly, but do not get your money’s worth, we’ll give you your money back!

Do you offer scholarship pricing?

We will be offering a scholarship to two participants on an application-basis. Email us to inquire about this option.

How many men will there be in the group?

In service of depth, this group is capped at 12 men.

What happened to the strength training component?

It’s still there, just structured differently to allow men more options. MoD participants are welcome to come train at Ripple Effect, either right before our sessions on Tuesdays, or another time during the week.

Tell me more about the strength training.

Ripple Effect offers periodized strength training designed to improve strength, mobility, coordination, injury prevention, and ultimately, allow for more time outside doing the things you love. An instructor will have a workout written for when you arrive, and will be present to teach and modify exercises based on your performance goals and body mechanics.

How do I know if this is a good fit for me?

Ultimately, that’s your call. If you’re on the fence and want to know more, reach out to us to set up a time to talk.

What are Erik & Davis’s qualifications?

Erik: 200-hr YTTC (Rishikul Yogshala), 100-hr Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training (Dharma Moon), Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Adams State), Husband, Father of two.
